Hello! I post on behalf of a friend of mine who's a mac user (and I cannot help him :D) question is he owns a G4.. would it be possible to get a pc and let them communicate? he precisely wants to use the pc for VST processing I don't have any clue if Mac can be interfaced with a pc to split the job (don't think so :D) but he wanted me to ask ideas anyone?

If he can install the same VSTs to both machines, than there is only a matter of connecting them to the same network and opening ReaMote host on a PC.

I never even wondered if it's even possible to connect multiple ProTools over network, so that one would only be processing your FXes. In Reaper it's super easy, I just did a test: I ran a ReaMote.exe on my PC Desktop (WinXP SP3) that is connected with ethernet cable to the router, and ran Reaper on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.5.8) connected wirelessly to the same router. In preferences there is a setting to enable ReaMote processing, and simply click auto search for ReaMote slaves, an IP of my PC pops up and I'm done. Now I open a VST instrument on a laptop which is also installed on my PC, and choose Remote processing at the top, and as simple as that my MIDI is being sent to the PC where audio is generated and sent back, and all the controls I change on local VST GUI are reflected on the processing machine, all with roughly 1024 samples of latency. It took more time to write this post. :D

Hey Guys, I have a laptop & desktop, any way you could post a step by step way of running the ReaMote for a newbie? I want to use my desktop for the audio, but use the laptop for processing the VSTs. (Is this correct, what I'm asking btw? The desktop would play the audio files etc, & the laptop would only process the VST's?) Thanks in advance, sorry to be so "ignorant" to all this, but if I could get this up & running, it would be really helpful & awesome!!!
