I'm using Reaper 3.02, though I can say this has been happening since 3.0 The play cursor simply doesn't show up. It doesn't render properly. Instead of a long, thin vertical line down the timeline, there are 4 pixels below the timeline's ruler. These 4 pixels are the only indication of where the play cursor is once you hit play. It is hard to explain, so I attached a screenshot. This is what happened to the play cursor. How can I get it back? Everything looked fine in Reaper 2. It's a bit more zen in some way, it makes me listen to the music more! ;) In those times when you need precision, though, it is much more difficult! :( Here's my specs, FWIW: Reaper 3.02 (32-bit) AMD Phenom x4 64 (quad core) Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit 8gb RAM M-Audio FastTrack Pro I'm not entirely sure how to reproduce the problem. I'm not sure if including a sample project would be entirely useful, but I can provide one if necessary. It happens in all of my projects, though it doesn't seem to affect playback or otherwise cause ill effects. [edit]i mean, cause ill effects on the audio, the visual discord should be obvious![/edit] Please help!

Does this happen with the default theme as well? (It looks like you are using a theme, themes for 3.0 may introduce their own visual bugs)

it does happen with the Default theme, yes. (got the same "bug" since 1-2 months) two things i know about this so far: 1. Play Cursor is an animated window border (or what) 2. "fiddling will be punished" (..) :)

::steindork hmm, I've just tried the default theme--along with every theme I have. It doesn't appear with any of them. :( I hadn't modified the Windows theme too much, but I switched back to the default OS theme, just to check. It had no effect. ::beatbybit I've read about the play cursor being an animated window that is collapsed horizontally. As a test I tried changing the window border width from 1 to 4, but alas, no change. Not sure about #2, fiddling will be punished? Maybe my Midi-fiddle is the cause of the problem!! ;) lol I also just tried turning off the aero effects and switching to the old school theme, still no luck. Does anyone have a clue?

Happening here as well (3.0.1, 3.0.2 on WinXP Pro/SP3 fully patched). Since I haven't used REAPER for a while (no time for making music), I first thought it was a theme thing. I remember in versions 2.xx we could colour the play cursor, so I had a look in the prefs. But there is no more option to do so it seems, unless I'm getting blind :( Would like a quick fix for this, as it is really distracting/disturbing not to know where my playhead is. Cheers & regards Raphael ;)

::beatbybit I'm using 3.04 and I'm not seeing those options. If I use the nifty find feature in the preferences, searching "play cursor", the only result is for zooming to follow the play or edit cursor. Maybe the options will reappear in 3.05??!! (no pun intended!) Thanks for the help, beatbybit!
