I have just freshly reinstalled my Win2K system. And here it goes: I installed ffdshow, and now each time I try to play any avi file, it would appear it plays, but the view is freezed. I mean, I get first frame, and thats it. It plays further but the view wont update. If I move player window, or switch to other app and back, the view updates to current frame, but stays there... Why :( W2k + Sp3 + wmp6.4 (same with 9) + dx8.1 + ffdshow0923 (same with 0617). Why......:(

Take hardware acceleration down a notch (or two). In WMP 6.4, View menu -> Options -> Hardware acceleration slider control. -h

Actually I solved the problem next minute I posted this. It was W2K builtin NVIDIA RIVA TNT drivers who did that. So I installed v28.32 from nvidia itself, and now it works as it used to :)
