Do you mean the "default_xvid_firstpass.settings" and "default_xvid_secondpass.settings" files in the Gordian Knot subdirectory? Jim

Did a complete uninstall and reinstall of GK 0.28.8. Ran through setup according to the guide for XviD. Got the same error message when I tried to do the Compressibility Check. Deleted the xvid first/second pass setting files. Reconfigured first and second pass. Tried again. Same result. I've used GK on plenty of other DVDs. Could it be this particular DVD? I'll go back and try it on an old one.

May be obvious step should be performed: UNINSTALL XviD properly and then install it again.

I had the exact same problem after I started using it after like 1 year. I went to installing the rippack and when it asked to delete the default settings, I said yes. That corrected the problem.

correct solution to this problem is: goto start -> All programs -> XVID -> configure encoder. then relaunch GK.
