When I try to run the compressibility check from the "Save .avs" dialog box in Gordian Knot, after I click on "now", I get the error message "Failure to get data for 'use_bvop'". Can someone tell me what this means? I've ripped before and everything has always worked fine. Thanks.

did you just upgrade to xvid 1.02 ?? i had the exact same problem, i solved it by quickly hitting 'codec settings' next to the 'now' tab, closing it again, and afterwards everything works great... hmmm... i'm wondering, if other people are having this problem too, maybe we should tell len0x about this... @Wilbert, Swan: pls move this thread to the gknot dev forum, thx

I'm using XVid 1.0.1-05062004, not 1.02

Upgraded to xvid 1.02 and still get the problem. I can't hit the edit codecs button fast enough to avoid the error message. Maybe I'm not sure exactly what you mean. When I switch to Divx, it works fine.

Upgraded to XVID 1.02. Get this error when trying to do compressibility check. Edit: I tried clicking the codec setttings button and then pressing OK before clicking compressibility check. This worked.

Its a feature - you have to have codec defaults set up on the first run of GK (in options) or when you upgrade the codec (coz it deletes the data from registry). All guides say that.

Thanks for your response, but I'm confused still. I've got GK set up so the screens exactly match those in the guide. Did this when I first set it up and after I upgraded. I don't see anything in the guide telling me to use different settings than are in the screen shots, and I'm hesitant to try anything they don't tell me to do. I'm using the "XviD pre 1.0" guide. After all that, I have this problem. Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying.

Please remove default_xvid_*.settings from GK home directory and do this: Start GK -> Options -> XviD Default settings -> First pass -> ...set your settings... -> OK -> Second Pass -> ...set your settings... -> OK. GK is ready to work.

Did that already, just like the guide says. Doesn't work. I still get the same error message. I've ripped plenty of other DVDs in the past, though not for a while, and never got this message before.

Deletion of "xvid_default_*.settings" is not mentioned in any guide - this step is crucial when upgrading to a differet version of XviD...
