Digi 002 Problem

Hello Fellow Music Makers, I wonder if anyone has been having the same problem as myself. When I load one of my song projects in Pro Tools all seems ok for five minutes but then my Digi 002 decides to close down.A box appears on screen which tells me I need to switch on my hardware? Well, all I can say is that I've never switched it off? This irritation is driving me insane, I would appreciate any ideas on how to combat this ideosyncrasy? I have checked the leads and all seem ok. Some months ago I had the unit shipped to Ireland for an internal loom to be installed.This worked for quite a while but now I'm back to sposmadic operation? I'm using a Mac G4 1.25K , Digi 002,Pro Tools L.E., Lacie storage unit, Fostex powered monitors, Roland A37 mother keyboard, Roland XV 50-50 sound module. could it be a bad power harness? is the IEEE 1394 light on the back of the 002 on?

I'd say the bad power harness potential in this case is high. Do a search on the DUC re this issue. If it is indeed the problem, it's not that hard to fix- that's the good news

Thank..You, I..had..the..power...harness...changed...a...few.. ..months...ago. At...the...moment...the...screen..is..showing...va lidating...one...minute...and....then...loading... .the....next. The....1394....light...is...switching...off...and. ..on.. When...it...shows....validating...the....light.... is...off?

It is definately a power harness problem. I replaced mine and then it reared its ugly head again. I had to send the unit to Digidesign. They were extremly responsive and returned the unit within 48 hours. DP

Thanks to you guys that took time to reply. This problem plagued me for almost a week.I had already had the harness changed. I resolved it by process of elimination, that is, I changed all the leads and the offending culprit was a firewire lead.As simple as that........Thanks once again......Dylan Thermos
