Plugins wont load on 2nd ever boot of program

Hi there. I've been using Reaper for about 2 hours now. I'm coming from the world of Digital Performer, so I have a whole mess of AUs already loaded, and upon first boot, they came up and worked perfectly. So, I worked on a mix for an hour or two. Closed Reaper so I could move my audio files to a new folder (out of my Dropbox). Loaded Reaper back up, it saw that files were moved, so I pointed it in the right direction. The files connected, but it told me: "The following effects were in the project file and are not available. REAPER will keep their configurations, but things may not sound as desired." -- and then listed all the AU plugs I was mixing with. Now, the VSTs loaded up perfectly. So.. yeah.. I love the program, and am strongly considering purchasing it, but if I'm going to have random issues like this on my first use of the program, it scares me a little. Can anyone help?

Hi toastworks, welcome on the forum. :) I'm not sure what is causing your issue, but I think the moved files were probably a separate matter. If you open the FX Browser (SHIFT+F, or from menu: View), do your AUs show up there? Fwiw, since REAPER comes from the Windows world, occasionally REAPER may behave slightly odd with AU's (e.g. newly installed effects not showing up under 'New'). But in general, in my experience it works just as well with AUs as with VSTs.

Ok.. here's what I got. I opened the FX Browser and it's showing all my Waves plugins (the ones in question) as VSTs.. not as AUs. There are AUs in the list, but not the ones I used in this project. Example in the error message of the plugs that won't load: Track 1: AU: Waves: C1 gate (s) (x86) Track 2: AU: Waves: CLA-2A (s) (x86) So.. essentially, the AUs disappeared from Reaper, but their VST counterparts are still listed, but it doesn't matter because I mixed the track with AUs, and now all the settings are lost. PS, I tried using the Waves AU registry updater.. no dice.
