I recently decided to try and make a XVCD. The source is a 92min 700MB AVI at a resolution of 480x360, which i loaded directly into TMPGEnc. No .d2v or .avs. The reason why i wan't a XVCD is that the normal 'VCD NTSC' template in TMPGEnc makes a 916MB MPG file, which won't fit on a 80min CD-R! Duh . I downloaded a bitrate calculator, and used the bitrate i gave me. Audio: 160kbits Video: 994kbits CBR With these bitrates i still end up with a 916MB MPG! What have i done wrong? Is it even possible to make a VCD of this lenght fit on a 80min CD-R? Hope to get some advice Best regards dego2k2

To make it fit on one CD you'll need to use the variable bit-rate option in TMPGenc!

the TMPGenc encoded the movie correctly, i.e. 994kbs video and 160kbs audio. But when you don't check the "VBR" option, the TMPG muxer will multiplex the audio/video stream to a standard VCD stream, i.e. 1150kbs video and 224kbs audio. The muxer will then add a "pedding stream" to your 994kbs/160kbs stream to fit the VCD-standard. That's why you've got such a monster file as result. So I hope now that you not only know "how" but also "why".
