Hi. Brand new here. Just heard about Reaper today. I have many original songs to record, and I want to get started. Every day it seems like one or the other software packages is the best. I work in MAC and I am looking for an intuitive software package that will let me get started quickly and learn as I go along. I would probably be discouraged and turned back by something that presented lots of obstacles, not because I am lazy, but because I am busy. How does Reaper work out for first timers, and would you suggest it for someone like me? Thanks to any repliers.

Thank you SO much for the reply. This is my first time with DAW. I will be recording one instrument at a time, and voice separately. I have a small Alesis interface and some passably good microphones.

Just my experience but setting up tracks to record is easy if a little fiddly at first (but the manual is great) and simple stuff like adding new tracks etc, effects, basic mixing etc. is er... simple! It is fairly intuitive but maybe ignore a lot of the zillions of options at first (right hand clicking reveals more options than most of us need!)until you need them. The manual is great and the forum is a constant source of wonder to me as there are a lot of very very capable people out there willing to help. At with great patience usually I would say...
