I know this is a bit of an idiotic post, but I can't seem to figure it out. I have followed Doom9's guide to the letter and am still having problems. I have tried encoding 2 different movies in XviD under Win 2k and Win XP and experienced the same problem both times. I bring up the joblist after setting up everything, and click start. VirtualDub simply disapears at this point. When I open it up again, I go to the joblist and it says the first item was "aborted". Does anyone know how I can get this to work? I am really excited about encoding in XviD, and this is really starting to get on my nerves. Thanks for the help. :0)

If i remember correcty, some prior Vdub versions had problems with jobs. Maybe you could try Vdub 1.4.10 It's the latest version. Not much helpfull, but you don't loose in trying.

check that already is OK, pass1 and after, the pass2. check if the path for the 1st pass is ok, verify if the [mark] in vdub are by default, or set the markin/out onto your video. i think it's perhaps cause of this for the pass2: // $start_time 0 0 // $end_time 0 0 perhaps i'm false, i don't know the vdub jobs syntaxe. good luck & see ya
the start_time and end_time parts store the starting time and finishing time for that job so it can be displayed in the Job Control window. obviously, if it hasn't started, it would naturally be 0.
