Hi, Ok i know way too many ppl having this problem with XVID recently. I have a huge lan at home and have a lot of friends, we're all experiencing the same. Most of us use Win2k and Nimo codec pack build 8. Now dont start babbling about how Nimo sucks blablabla because, personally i think its very good, and i can literally watch any videoclip on all my computers. Now recently i got some videos and have been said that they were encoded with XVID and thats why i experience pixelization and smearing. Oh, did i mention the green blocks of crap flying around the screen ?? With that said, i would like you guys to suggest me what i should install and how to install it to solve the problem stated above. Thanks in advance. PS - I only use WMP 6.04. I wont use any other player. Thanks no thanks.

I downloaded and installed XviD-04102002-1.exe from the site suggested by bond. Result is still the same. Screenshots below: - http://www.theforumisdown.com/uploadfiles/1102/007_xvid.jpg - http://www.theforumisdown.com/uploadfiles/1102/008_xvid.jpg

hm you can also try: 1) koepis developer build 2) (latest alpha) EDIT: like SirElvis already wrote :) 3) use the fourcc changer included in koepis build to change the 4cc code from xvid to divx -> then the divx5 decoder will be used (divx5 must be installed on your system) btw: dont download illegal copies of the new 007 dvd screnner

OK, i went to FFDSHOW site and downloaded the latest alpha (ffdshow-20030103.exe), installed it with default settings (XVID, MS-MPEG4v3, and Windows Media Video 1) on c:\winnt\system32 and BANG!! The video now works beautifully. And bond, its not only 007. Other movies i have work nice now. In all these, i just wonder if i had to install XVID or should i've gone straight to FFD and still achieve success.

If you just want to watch your movies(and not encode with XviD) then ffdshow is, AFAIK, enough.
