So I'm brand new to Reaper, spent quite a few hours with the Manual and have just about figured out multi out VSt's but there is one fly in the ointment. I've inserted a 24 track midi file I want to work with and exploded it out and all the tracks are there but in order to assign instruments in Kontakt I need to know what each track is set to with regards to the midi channel it is using, And I'm frigged if I can find it. I'm coming over from Sonar 8 which for this sort of thing is a doddle because its all right on screen as sonn as you open a midi file up. If anyone can enlighten me I will be eternally grateful meanwhile, I'm off to smash my head several times against the nearest wall :-)

Hello MadDog and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. To see the channel you'll need to open a MIDI clip in the MIDI Editor; then you can edit the track name to add the channel # if you want: -- double-click a clip on a track -- switch to the Event List (View >> Event List, or Alt+3) and you should see the MIDI channel for the notes there. Meanwhile, if you record your head-banging it could make a decent sample for a "different" drum :) HTH ================================================== ========== Make sure that you purchase Nicholas' excellent User Guide and ReaMix docs too. Worth their weight in gold. v3 User Guide: ... v2 User Guide:.. ReaMix:....... Purchase:.... Distribution:. They will ship it internationally:
