litlin, first thing I'd look at is what is the brand of DVD-R you are trying? While many standalone DVD players state they will play DVD-Rs, I have found they play only certain makes (Pioneer, Verbatum, Ritek) and don't like the noname brands. Next, I can't select that link you posted - doesn't work. So I can't tell if those instructions have you following all the steps correctly to rip, process and burn a dvd copy. If you suspect (which I do) that the processing is what's failing, you can confirm it by doing a simple test. Get a DVD that is less than 4.3gb (a regular commercial movie). Use DVD Decrypter to read it and create an ISO file (image) onto your hard disk. Then use DVD Decrypter to burn that image to the blank DVD-R. If that doesn't play in the standalone, it's your DVD-Rs (or their compatibility with the player). If it does play fine, it's your rip-process-burn that's the problem, not the DVD-R.
