problem with asio4all in laptop

i have lenovo laptop with vista home basic (i think) and the asio4all (latest) don't work, not only in reaper does anyone has this kind of problem can anyone tell what the solution for that ?

Did you actually go into Option Preferences...and then Hmmm...whatever the other option is...Driver maybe......and change it to ASIO4All?

does you comp make any sound at all ?? in the window for asio4all, do you have a little blue arrow type thing, next to your soundcard? in the window ?? `Rob.

You have selected the "HD Audio Headphone" output in the Reaper preferences but it's switched off in the ASIO4ALL control panel (the little triangle is missing). If you turn it on, this output should work. The other output is "unavailabe" but that doesn't necessarily affect the headphone out and maybe it is really because another application (or the MS synth) uses it. As far I can see, the Conexant SmartAudio 221 is not known to be one of the Conexant troublemaker chips which don't work well with ASIO4ALL, so that should possibly fix it.

i accidentally managed to put that triangle as you said, still doesn't work i actually don't need that driver so much, because reaper can work with other drivers but i have 2 other daws (that i can easly live without them) that work only with asio

ASIO4ALL is a great hack, but the basic problem is that you're fighting a cheap POS soundcard with about 40cents worth of chips that was made for beeps, boops, and light gaming, not recording or playing back high-fidelity music. You REALLY want a decent (that doesnt mean horribly expensive) external soundcard that will replace the functions of the cheap onboard AND has native ASIO drivers for low-latency operation. Go look at the soundcard guide over at Tweak's Guide: (You'll want to bookmark as a general reference and read through the entire guide...)

I use ASio4all on my laptop for live use at 64 samples and it sounds great on my macbook pro. MC
