I'm running a G4/400 sawtooth, 320mb ram, Quantum Fireball 7200rpm 20GB drive... dedicated to audio..partitioned into (4) 5gb partitions. Digi001/PT 5.01 My entire system seems to be lagging... when I open an audiosuite plugin, the audiosuite menu name stays highlighted for about 10 seconds and then the plugin finally opens... it takes just as long to change audiosuite plugs from the insert pull down menu on the plug-in. Other than that ProTools just seems REALLY sluggish. I did a session on a friends Digi001 on his G4/400 sawtooth, 256mb ram, 20gig stock drive partitioned to have dedicated audio partitions. There is no lag with calling up audiosuite plugs from his system... everything seems to respond smoother too. I set all my memory settings to be the same as his, but it has not improved the performance of my system... it's the same computer..same settings... Whats Up? Any ideas....

my G4 also lags during startup on the DigiSystemInit for about 5-10secs. Unfortunately I didn't notice when this began happening i.e. whether it was before upgrading to 5.01 or not...

Hey Brent, Thanks.... I followed all your directions with no luck... but I did start removing all the waves plugins that I don't use... and it cured the audiosuite lag, go figure... sounds like waves didn't do all of their RTAS homework before releasing them (not to mention the exploding noise problem that prohibits use of the Ren Comp). But I still do have a 5-10 sec lag with the DSI in startup followed by an audible pop as it moves on to the next extention. Thanks for the help.
