Wow, that's quite a jump back in time :). The issue is still the same. It is about how the same custom color shows up different, depending on where it is displayed, and a) at no place in Reaper looks like the color as picked from the swatchbox. b) (what the OP talks about) looks very different above "namebg.png" as opposed to "itembg.png". This is also the case when you make these two images exactly the same color. I suppose that's because in case of items the track background (odd/even) color comes into the mix as well. My pic is of course a Photoshop cut and paste orgy, but it basically shows colors as they are shown above tcp_namebg (or "track label background as it is called in the preferences) and items. Pref -> Appearance: "Set track label backgrounds..." is ticked, "Tint track panel..." unticked, and Appearance -> Media: "Tint backgrounds to..." are both ticked. "Media item background fill mode" is Normal 1.00, I believe. The columns (left to right) show: - Track label background (namebg.png) for unselected (1) and - for selected tracks (2) - column (3) is a reference where I pasted in the colors as they actually look on the color swatches (you can get them by having no namebg.pngs at all in the theme's folder, which is what I do right now) - column 4 are all selected items (tinted to custom track color) - column 5 are selected items within a time selection and - column 6 are unselected items Hope this helps in any way. Personally I still would be in favor of some dedicated places on tcp/mcp and on items that are able to show me the exact chosen color, but I'd be already a happy fellow if I could have a namebg.png and still a dark green color showing on the track label field. There's been several threads about it during the v3.0 pre release sessions.
