Hi Guys, As most of you know, i have had a lot of starting issues in the past which are pritty much rectified not. The Other day, i went to open the car, and when i pressed the button on the key fob, nothing happened. It took several attempts before she decided to open. Also one or twice, it seems to take longer to start than i would like, although will always start first time. I know that everything in the engine bay is fine as i have changed / replaced and checked every sensor and wire there. I went to read the codes from my car today as i have not checked them for a while now. Everything was fine apart from two codes from the imobiliser. IMM - 221/234 No response from key transponder IMM - 211/213 Comms fault to engine ECU As most people know it seemed to be a imobiliser fault that was causing me a lot of grief before. When i unpluged it and checked all the wiring and plugged it back in, that is when it made significant improvements to the car. The only thing is on the odd ocasion it still seems to take time to start, although will start first time, just seems to take a bit longer cranking. I have already put a new antenna ring on. Do you think i should consider repacing the imobiliser unit. I have also checked all the wiring that goes in and out of the imobiliser which seems fine. What do you lot think, Regards Stuart
Hi Brian. Yes the diagnostic software does have a live display. Here are the pictures of the codes that i was getting for the imobiliser. Everything else was fine. As i have alra\dy said, i have physically checked all the wires that are going in/c coming out of the imobiliser and they all seem fine. Would i be correct in saying that it looks like the imobiliser unit that needs replaced, or is there something else that i can try. Regards Stuart
I have been reading everyones queries have noe established I need a crankshaft sensor no problem their how difficult are they to fit please tell me its easy
Hi Caroleann, The crankshaft sensors / RPM sensors as they are also knows are really easy to fit / exchange. You do need to remove your air filter, air filter casing and assosiated chubing. If you then look at the top of the gearbox, right up against the engine, where they almost meet, you will see a small sensor, which has a wire coming out the top, and going into a multi plug. Disconnect the plug, and the sensor has 1 bolt holding it in place. If my memory servers me correctly, the bolt is a 12mm. After you remove this bolt the sensor should just pop out. Becarefull when you remove the sensor as you DONT want to pull on the wires trying to remove it as this could cause damage. I hope this has helped you out Regards Stuart
