Input level adjusting - still too high...

Hey, BillT...check this thread out: I haven't used either of the VST's noted in the 2nd post, but I will experiment some when I get home. From the info it sounds like it might help with your issue since the A-Box isn't indicating clip. Just a thought. The DI box route...yes, a byproduct of these is a lower signal, just because it goes in unbalanced inst level & comes out balanced mic level. The lower mic level allows some gain adjustment at the interface that is absent if the inst level is too hot. One guy I know uses a Rolls DI. It's cheap & no complaints about sound. Like I mentioned before, I like the Countryman I've got. And the voltage divider path, as mentioned on GS, is certainly an option, especially if you are into make-your-own stuff. Some other folks who know a lot more than I will be along directly. I'm interested in what they'll have on this.

Picked up a Live Wire Solutions passive DI box (yes cheap at $30). It has settings for 0, -20, & -40db plus a ground lift. Worked perfect for lowering the level in at -20db. Does it affect the tone? Yes a bit. But for my use, a bit of tone adjusting works. If I had to do it all over again (had I been educated at the time), I would have looked at a higher end unit than the Audiobox to begin with but hey - that's what makes us newbies. ;) Works ok for now. For future consideration... As a fellow guitar player, I bought one of these last year and can't say enough good things about it. See here: . Something to think about. :D

Tod, If I remember correctly... it came with Komplete 'Elements' and Tractor LE and Cubase 6 LE. Elements has 3 GB of samples and 1,000 premium sounds (off the label) :D They are 'cut-down' versions, but very usable. I'm not using these at the moment, I have Komplete 8.
