Whenever I'm in reaper and I make a new track and hold CTRL and click and drag to create a MIDI section it says "untitled MIDI item OFFLINE". If I try to click it and edit the MIDI track it wont open or do anything. I can however record through my M-Audio interface without a problem. I've tried just about everything and I can't seem to figure it out. Please help!

Welcome to the forums! This question commands that I ask you first what Reaper version you are using? Secondly, are you using in-project MIDI files or have you set that to .MID in Preferences->Media->MIDI->'Create new MIDI items as..' ?

Can you please double check you're using in-project MIDI in Preferences->Media->MIDI for existing and new media items? Or are these imported items? Otherwise it would be very odd when in-project MIDI items would go offline, if so, does that also happen with a clean project (ideally no/minimum (REAPER-only) plug-in usage) and if not, what plug-ins are you using in the project where you get that problem?

Hi, At first, sorry to get this thread up again. But i have the same problem. Searched the internet for hours, tried everything that was written on this forum about this problem but nothing can solve it. So i got Reaper (just started, so i don't know anything about it yet), bought myself a keyboard (Alesis Q49) and got it so far that i can hear sound when i touch the keys hehe.. But my problem is recording, when i try to record, in the field where it should be recorded stands "MIDI Offline". How can i solve it? Really could use some help! Thank you!

Hi Guys, I'm getting a similar problem. After 12 years using the same version of Logic (5.3.1), I decided it was time to finally upgrade to a new DAW for my PC - Reaper. I am attempting my first project in Reaper. I have configured my midi so that my keyboard 'talks' to the computer and I can select a track, select a softsynth and play notes on it. Everything looks fine; the levels go up and down and sounds come out. The problem is that when I hit record, although the track scrolls along nicely, the metronome clicks away, an object is being created on the correct channel and the softsynth plays my tune, nothing is being recorded. The object has 'offline' written along it. I have checked the prefs and midi is set to 'in project'. I am also not running any other programs at the same time. Also, when I click on the object I am not getting the piano roll but an item properties page (not sure if this is normal) Any help would be great. Thanks Barney
