Anyone have any info on the Audi deisel engine on an 2.5 S70

As per the title really, I am looking at buying an S70 off a friend and have read that the 2.5ltr deisel is probably an audi one. Also this engine some say "should be avoided" does anyone have any further info.... The car has done 165K..... Many thanks in advance Backrowslea

What year? Up to 2002 it would have an Audi 2.5tdi and after 2002 a Volvo D5 (Volvo's own). The Audi unit is the original bigger version of the 1.9tdi fitted to many Passats and Audis and derivatives. Thousands of this well proven engine produced. The D5 is well regarded AFAIK. Not sure why a Volvo diesel "should be avoided". Search the Diesel engine forum for more info. Regards.

Hello There are later TDi engines which are particular about which computer they talk to. I have a 2000 TDi, and there seem only to be 4 garages in my county that I can use if I need to get codes read. Even garages that advertise "Engine Diagnostics... all makes" confess they can't communicate with my V70!
