nice thread. Especially because i bought philips dvd+rw 228k yesterday. I'm not disappointed so far. Suddenly my old powerdvd 2.55 and cinemaster and CyberHome (2-year-old standalone) are willing to playback my old creations (Scenarist 2.6) on dvd+rw burned with nero. I really don't care about $1 more or less for a dvd+/-r and I looked at the participants in the market Philips/Sony/etc vs Pioneer/Panasonic/etc and thought Philips/Sony is going to make the best market penetration, so buy dvd+r/+rw. But if Sony releases that new drive, then they're anticipating on people buying dvd-r and thus spoiling their own coalition of dvd+. In that case the media (dvd-) is going to direct the market for hardware, and that means I bought the wrong drive...

"If" you bought the wrong drive, only if, it wouldn't effect you for a long time, only if DVD+R dissapears, and that won't be for a long time if it ever happens. By then we'll all be buying new drives anyway for one reason or another. I mean if you kept that drive for 2 years you'll want to upgrade to something else by then anyway, just like the rest of us. So don't freak out about it
