I occasionally get a strange noise when I open Reaper and start to play/record input/output: When I restart Reaper, it goes away. Any idea what it's about? Thanks!

User error, bug or problems with hardware?

I'll be damned, Well at least you got a free ring modulator out of it. You don't change anything with your signal path or I/O in Reaper, and the problem disappears after closing and restarting Reaper? Obviously this Ring modulation does stay on the recorded tracks though yea...Never happened before, you don't have any batteries in your recording signal path, never pickup any interference in the axe? I will be interested when this mystery is solved

It is obvious! Reaper is not made for 7 string basses. *ggg* What converter do you use? Latest driver? Sounds like something is not initialized in the driver... like 8 out of 16 or 24 bits are filled with random noise...
