Is it possible to use the modulating routings to create a sidechain effect without a compressor? I've read somewhere that you could chain any parameters to each other but I can't seem to do it on track volume... How would I do it, or more importantly, how would you do it? If it is necessary I can of course use the reacomp but I dont have the slightest clue on how to do it... (btw I'm trying to chain a vocal pad to duck a kick, the basic dance thing you know)

Parameter Modulation (clean/dynamic method): 1 - Insert JS Effect: volume_pan in your kick's track 2 - Set your kick's track to 4 channels 3 - Send your vocal track to your kick's track through 3/4 channels 4 - Click on your kick's track envelopes button and look for volume dB parameter. Activate it and tick on Mod... button. 5 - On Parameter Modulation's window change your source audio channel to 3/4, set your strenght slider to 0% and tick Negative on Direction option. 6 - Press play and move your strength slider to set how many dB's you need to lower. Parameter Modulation, like its name says, controls specfic plug-ins' parameters with an incoming audio signal. Compressor Sidechain (processed/dynamic method): 1 - Insert ReaComp in your kick's track 2 - Set your kick's track to 4 channels 3 - Send your vocal track to your kick's track through 3/4 channels 4 - Open up ReaComp and set Auxiliary Input L+R in Detector Input 5 - Tweak your compressor to set how many dB's you need to lower (Change Ratio and Threshold first)

Very informative and clear, I couldn't have hoped for a clearer answer. Thank you very much! I guess I'll go with the processed method, since it's the 'real deal' after all. In FLStudio I had to do it similar to your clean method so I thought it would have to be something like that. Thanks again.

Im not sure what i am doing wrong. Lets say i use vst's to create a kick and a bass. For some reason the bass only playes as short as i draw out the midi for my kick. Kick - - - - Bass --- --- --- --- The bass plays as if it was short as the kick but it should be long. - - - - Hope this makes any sens. This is while using the compressor sidchain example. Btw If i have record armed for the kick and play on my keyboard, it plays the bass aswell. Without the bass beeing armed. Maybe im routing this wrong? *Edit Gonna try make a ghost(trigger) channle, but that shouldnt be nessesary right? *Edit Nvm i fixed it, just had to change the midi channle lol. Took a while to find that out though haha
