i'd like to transfer audio and midi files from my PC to my mac,and vice-versa..i've searched the duc and the net,and have come this far: i have installed a ftp client (transmit) on the mac (os9.2) i have bought a cat5 cross-over ethernet cable. i have installed a fast ethernet card (peabfast) on the peecee (win 98SE) i have given each computer a different IP adress. i haven't been abble to configure the pc as a ftp server,as far as i know. i didn't know a thing about ftp before yesterday, and still can't connect to the pc.. i have registered to the duc to beg for some help... what's the problem? please help

1. Using FTP, You need an FTP server for the PC. Example for one is the G6 Ftp server (win). for the pc to go on the mac simply load IE and write in the address bar: (=mac ip). Check the network: if the PC back shows the green light in the ethernet card you should be fine. A product I've find really great is PCMacLan it's an appleshare server so you can share the PC and mac really easy with no too much work, however it costs some amount of money.

There's a program called DAVE that is for the mac which allows it to show up on the same workgrouop with the pc. It has a 30 day trial. There's also a more elaborate program called Timbuktu, but I don't know much about that one. Both apps cost a pretty penny ($200) but the demo's worth a go around.
