The original Mbox doesn't have any kind of MIDI ins or outs on it. I have the same version. I got a to allow midi in and out on my system. You'll then run everything MTC. After putting the D1600 in chase or slave mode, you'll have to enable Pro Tools to transmit time code through the session setup window or peripherals menu (not sure which in LE). Also, the last step is to put Pro Tools "online" by holding option and pressing spacebar. This will blink the far left transport button which looks like a clock.
thanx for the help. 1 more quick question the way you put it i need a usb midi interface, but i have the command 8 ,are u saying that i cant send mtc thru the command 8 ? dumb question , but i dont think thats what you're saying. or is it?

you're correct. I'm sorry. I was thinking of my setup when I said you would need that device. Yeah, the command 8 should be able to carry that, I think...I don't have one, so I'm not as familiar with its abilities. I did read that you may have to update the midi driver to use it. I would guess its just a setting. Just to make sure, do you have:a device named in the MTC generator? (in setup\peripherals in the sync tab) both MIDI machine control and the control remote function disabled/unchecked? (same location but machine control tab) Pro Tools online? (by holding option and pressing the space bar)

Hey sbag, if you get this to work, let me know how you did it. I've been trying to sync my D1600 to my PT for years, and the closest I ever got was getting the channel 8 slider on the D1600 to control 1 random fader in PT to move, and I could trigger PT to start recording/playing, but not stop or any other transport features. Anyway, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's trying this. -Vlad
okay i tried it but same result, midi signal is being sent to d 1600 and the indicator lights up but no sync, i guess it must be a issue with pt and the korg d 1600. i think this is a job fit best for our freinds at the digi tech support?
If PT is sending the MTC data to your korg unit and the korg isn't chasing it, I'd say the problem is with the korg. Have you gone thru the manual for the 1600 to make sure you have everything set correctly on that end?
