About a year ago i went to somebodys house and they had real small audio interface. It was a white stick type thing with a usb input on one side and a mic input on the other. He said it was real cheap but it got the job done nicely. Since then that person moved and i dont know his phone number and i cant remember what it that thing was called. Does anybody have any idea what that interface is called or know of any other really cheap mic to usb audio interfaces that are under like fifty bucks?

Those are fine for podcasting, but not good for what we do. The audio>digital converters aren't that good and you'll have monitoring problems. And you'll have latency (delay) problems if it doesn't use ASIO drivers. A regular usb audio interface isn't that much more money and will give you a lot less problems. Good place to start: (you'll want to bookmark and read through all of Tweak's guide...)

I agree with the above.I started a few years ago getting back into recording with a small Behringer USB stick, but it soon became too limiting. I moved to a Toneport GX with included Podfarm software, It's an an absolute bargain and for my needs would buy one again if mine ever goes. All guitars/Bass and Vocals done though it in my sig/Reverbnation page. My 10 penn'th.
