This movie has 4:3 and 16:9 versions of the movie on one disc, Now I stripped the VOBID 12 which was the aspect ratio selection screen (and yes the correct Vob-Unit (Navigational Pack) pointers in VOB_files and Correct IFO Tables with New VOB-Unit Info were checked) Copied all original remaining VOB's over to new directory where new vob files were created except for the VTS_02 VOB's I deleted all VTS_02 files that correspond to 4:3 version and loaded all IFO's in IfoEdit and hit Get VTS Sectors. Burned back to DVD-R and everything works fine except that when I hit play movie nothing happens. What could be the problem? And/or what should I look for in IFOEDIT to see if all pointers are correct? Just incase you need to know the aspect ratio selection menu was located in vts_01_0.ifo and Movie is VTS_01_1.vob - VTS_01_3.vob. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi, first I am not a IFOedit expert but I will attempt to help since no one else has tried. In IFOedit you look at where the main movie is and it say's USES Vob ids 1,2,3 note this down. Now goto the strip vob id's menu tick the vob ids you want keep. Which is usually not many but you need 1,2,3 for the main movie title. kick off the process and you should be left with a directory full of files that contain your desired content. I personally don't rip the menus at all using this method and I have no problems. I always hit the get VTS sectors as well at the end just incase this corrects any final problems. I don't however have to copy any files around but like I say I am not a power user but my rips work. Sorry for being vague but I don't have ifoedit in front on me atm. Anyway hope this helps... :)
I've done this several times and I think I did it with "The New Guy". Movies that have both "full screen" and "wide screen" can be reduced to include the menu system and only the movie version you want. I usually rip the entire DVD to hard drive and use IFOEdit to make sure which version is in which VOB set. Once I know that, I remove the vob's that contain the movie version I DON'T want. This means, vob_0x_1.vob, vob0x_2.vob, etc. not the IFOs or the vob_0x_0.vob file. Then I open IFOEdit and load the video_ts.ifo file and click on "get vts sectors" to align everything without the vob's I removed. At this point, I look for VOBIds that I want to remove - FBI warnings, etc. and let IFOEdit clean those out. Each time I strip something out of a movie with IFOEdit, I close IFOEdit and reopen it with the video_ts.ifo and click on "get vts sectors". I got bit by this once and created a coaster needlessly. I've discovered that some DVD's will put the "wide screen" version in a VOB set other than vob_01_1.vob. You have to keep the vob_01_0.ifo, vob_01_0.vob and a portion of the vob_01_1.vob. I usually use VOBEdit to demux vob_01_1.vob by VOBId or CELLId and create a new vob_01_1.vob file with just one VOBID or CELLID to keep with the VOB 1 Set. Once I've create the new vob_01_1.vob, I replace the original with this one and open IFOEdit and load the video_ts.ifo file. Select "get vts sectors" and the movie will be re-aligned for the missing portion of the original vob_01_1.vob. Close IFOEdit and open it again seleting the video_ts.ifo file and click on "DVD Play". If your movie starts like the original and you can select the audio and movie version you want, the menus and extras that would fit, you should be ready to burn. However, I NEVER burn to a DVD+R no matter how confident I am that IFOEdit has prepared the files to work on a set top DVD player. I ALWAYS burn to a DVD+RW to make sure it plays in my set top DVD player. I ALWAYS select the menu options that I've left in the movie files to see them work on my set top DVD Player. I ALWAYS skip through the chapters to the end to make sure the DVD plays through the chapters correctly. Then I reboot my computer to have a fresh operating system environment prior to burning to a DVD+R. Hope this helps.
