Anyone here ever try to reencode the Friends Season 1 DVDs? I can't get it to work correctly. The reason is there seems to be no chapter points (I used chapterXtractor but nothing comes up). So therefore there are no chapters and I can't follow the Scenarist/CCE guide. If I try to make my own vob files then replace the original vob files with mine and correct the IFO, the episode selection menu doesn't match with the episodes. Also I can't even do it with the Rempeg2 or TMPGenc guide because the audio goes out of sync. Has anyone done the Friends Season 1 DVDs and can help me out?

This is what i do right now!!! In one hour i will have completed the 1st season... But what i do is re-author 6 episodes in a DVD-5... I take the 3 eps from one side and 3 form the other, encode ONLY the two and re-author with Maestro... At first rip the 2 sides... After with Smartripper chose stream processing and demux each episode's video and audio that you want to keep in different files and keep the subtitles in direct stream copy!!! (i.e in the vobs) Then use Subrip to extract the subs in a folder... Capture all the menus with e.g PowerDVD OR extract them with Vobrator or VobEdit (I then import them to Premiere and export the .bmps) Use AC3 Delay Corrector to correct the delays in the ac3's... Then use DVD2AVI to 2 of the 6 .m2v files (they are about 750MB each) and create a .d2v... Create an .avs or use VPAFI convertor and import it to CCE... VERY IMPORTANT...Experiment with the field order... Don't know which one is right... If you mess up with this you'll create coasters... In PC they play nice, on DVD on the living room, NO! Use A DVD-RW. I use DXR3 to check it... So after the encoding import all these in Maestro... VERY IMPORTANT...when you enter an episode that you DIDNT encode, in order to be able to import the subs, you will have to click on the VIdeo Timestamp Offset(under the Wall Clock) and reset it to 0!!! Create button, etc, compile and be happy

Yea, each episode is it's own PGC. There are 6 episodes per disc.

Ok, about the six episodes, you're right... But sometimes SmartRipper doesn't rip correctly the DVD's so i use DVD decrypter and later Smartripper which allows you to open a DVD from the Hard disk...And also i want them for "safety reasons". You can do whatever you want... And yes i mean the six episodes!!! Also i say re-encode only the 2 episodes because this the minimum you need to fit them all in a DVD-5... Each episode is about 750MB (.m2v only), so 750*6= 4500MB...If you add menus and audios is 200MB more, so you have to "cut" about 300MBs..If you encode 2 episodes and make them about 500-550MB you're OK!! I don't know if these things cover you, but don't hesitate to ask me again!!! I don't mind....
