I downloaded maestro_concert_grand_v2.gig. Can I use this in Reaper? If so, how? Doesn't look like a regular vst.

That's a GIGA format file, a sample library. You should be able to import it in Kontakt (but not the free Kontakt Player I believe).

So is Kontakt something I can then use in Reaper?

Yep, as a VST/AU/RTAS plugin.

I just downloaded the Maestro concert grand last week and it works fine in Kontakt. It did ask if i wanted to resave some voletile samples ? which i did ( just so it would stop asking me :) ) but it all seems to be working OK. I must stress though i am not a pianist and im just using MCG as a suport piano in some backing tracks ( which sound fine to me ) so i'm unsure how a pianist would rate the MCG samples. Cheers
