Random observation last night; I put a Mesa/Boogie dual rectifier head (power on) next to my monitor and <SLURP!>, most of the color was sucked off the screen (seemed like just greys and red left). Any of you techies (or guys who stayed awake during physics class) know why this happens?

Possibly the induced magnetic fields on the M B disturbes the electron streams canonned on your monitor flouroscent screen inside. Or something like that :-) // Joakim W ------------------ >>We need more time so that everything doesn't happen at once<<

Hello you, Watch out with that stuff!! It could magnetise some metal parts in your monitor, thereby permanently distorting your image!!!! That's also the reason why they sell magnetically-shielded monitor-speakers.

Transformers just seem to play havok with directed electron flows....

In the unique event that your monitor does not have a Degauss option, you can buy degaussing coils at some electronic stores

If the degaussing circuit doesn't do the trick, you could try using a tape head demagnetiser and slowly and evenly run it round the front of your monitor. If you have access to one, you could try a degaussing wand, which is basically a big version of a head demagnetiser. Keep it well away from your masters though ;-). Your local TV repair shop may be able to lend you one.

Shaggy, I had more trouble staying awake during trade school classes (electronics tech course). Probably had something to do with the number of parties happening where I lived at the time!! Anyway, Ed, make sure you DON'T switch off the head demagnetiser or degaussing wand when it is near the monitor. Move it away slowly first, or you'll end up with more colors than a Winamp plugin!
