You do not "need" a second drive to run Protools, however Digidesign highly recommends you have a second drive for audio. Most professional applications run much more efficient and you will get far greater performance if you have a second drive for application files. Just add a second internal ATA/IDE drive. There are step by step instructions on the Apple web site. To properly master, you will need proper mastering equipment, hardware and software. You can do some basic mastering within Protools, however mastering for professional quality is best left to a professional. You can burn an audio CD with the Apple application iTunes.
